C's I'm Thankful For

Time for Thankful Thursday Alphabet--I'm on the letter C!

I'm thankful for:

Children--they are carefree and full of energy and zest for life. They remind me to live my days to the fullest and to find JOY and Happiness in everything I do.

CAROLYN (my hairdresser)--I have an appointment with her to get my much needed haircut this afternoon. She has a really sweet spirit and I'm always uplifted by being with her AND she does a great job with my hair.

Colors--Wouldn't life by boring without all the wonderful colors that God created!

Cats--After my last couple of Friday Furball Tail posts, you all know I love my kitty cats.

Chocolate--What would life be like without it! It helps us through some tough days.

Cars--It seems I'm always on the go and I really like my Mazda 5. It needs a bath! I'd add that to my chore list for the weekend.

Cross of Christ--I am so very thankful that Jesus was willing to pay my debt for all the sin I ever have and ever will commit with His agonizing death on the cross. I love to wear cross necklaces as a simple reminder to me and others that because of what He did there, I am a child of the King. I'm loved, I'm engraved on His palms, I'm free from the power of sin, I'm HIS because of HIM!

Have a great day, everyone!!

I found your blog through Kim at Homesteader's Heart. I am just getting back to blogging after a year's hiatus.

What a neat idea this is---to have an alphabetical thanks list. I think I will try it myself (not on my blog, though, just privately).

Five years ago, my husband began what turned out to be 25 months of unemployment. We are a single income homeschooling family, so that was a VERY difficult time for us. He did some custodial work and some construction work to bring in a bit of money (he's an accounting man by profession), but the times were still VERY lean. In the midst of that time, the Lord put upon my heart that I needed to be giving thanks. So I began what I called my "blessing book". Each day, I had to find and record 5 things for which to give thanks. At first, it was hard...I didn't think I had anything to be thankful for...after all, my circumstances were less than perfect. I started by giving thanks for the ability to see, hear, etc. As time went on, though, I found myself giving thanks (and meaning it!) FOR my circumstances. I thanked him when job opportunities didn't work out...for I knew it wasn't what he wanted for my husband. I thanked him for the opportunity to trust him and to experience his grace as never before. I thanked him for the lessons we were learning. I don't record in the blessing book much anymore, but I was close to 1,500 when I stopped (that is alot of blessing!!)

Anyhow, I know I'm rambling. I just feel very strongly about the need to open our eyes to all the blessings God has given us and taking the time to thank him for them. I love the way you have chosen to do that.

Love in Christ,
Patti
