Photo Challenge--Old

Sorry I'm late getting my pictures posted. But this challenge was extra fun for me. As soon as the topic was selected, I had several ideas. I ended up deciding to feature several pictures of the same "old" thing. So....here are my pictures of my Grandmother's treadle sewing machine. It was passed to my mother when I was a teenager and then to me in 2002 after my mother died.

There are actually several "old" things in this one picture. Notice the old iron and the lamp was my parents about 60 years ago. The wall pictures are of my mom's parents and my father-in-law's parents. The 2 small pictures are pictures of my mom's family when she was a baby. And finally my mom made the beautiful crocheted doily. This is how the machine looks at my house.

I had not opened the machine up for several years and had great fun opening it and looking at all the beautiful detail work on it. Thanks to Donna from Made in Heaven for hosting this edition of the Brenda's photo challenge. It brought great joy to me to take and share these pictures. I'll be around to look at everyone's pictures later. Have a great day!!

I love your pictures of "Old"...my mom use to have one of these sewing machines when I was growing up and I remember exploring the little cubicle drawers and looking at all the buttons and threads...There is such craftsmanship in these sewing machines and I love the intricate details....I bet using the treadle to sew would be rhythmically contenting...thanks for the memories and I do love all the other old things you have displayed together so nicely.
Good job!

We had one of these in our house growing up. It was my grandma's then my mother's. Your photos brought back happy memories. As a kid I used to love to work the floor peddle.

Excellent "old" treasures! My grandmother had on old Singer treadle machine. Now I'm wondering who ended up with it (probably my Aunt Freada, she felt she was that entitled. I remember wearing many, many little dresses sewn on that machine.

Karen,

Believe it or not, I have my grandmother's old sewing machine! And it is such a treasure to me...of course, I don't know how to use it, but I love it. I folds under the cabinet.

It looks somewhat like this one.

Great pictures! Blessings to you today!

Gorgeous sewing machine. I love the "old" things on top of it too. I have an old iron very similar in my hutch. Great pictures.

I can see the love worn into the machine! And good for you on keeping up with the photo challenges -- I just haven't had time to lately! And I too bet that machine still works! Amazing what those ladies did with a single straight stitch!
