As I wandered along in the garden, I stumbled upon a small body of water.
It was perfectly still and almost seemed stagnant when first I spied it. Perhaps my internal feelings of stagnation drew me to it. As I snapped my pictures of the reflections in the still waters and tried to interpret my feelings, lovely goldfish swimming toward me in a line interrupted my thoughts.
Beautiful, colorful fish swam with purpose and positioned themselves in front of me where they circled as if in anticipation. As I walked to the other side of the little pond, the fish seemed to follow. These delightful fish were definitely aware of my presence and were responding to me.
Am I aware of God's presence?
How do I respond to His presence?
Do I rush to Him? Do I expect something from Him?
He won't disappoint me like I did those fish. I didn't have anything to offer them. But God has EVERYTHING I can ever need to offer me.
Dear Father,
Thank you for your presence in my life! Thank you for your daily provision. Thank you for times of sweet fellowship! Thank you for drawing me close. You truly are all I need!
Amen
Psalm 16:9-11 (New International Version, ©2010)
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful[a] one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
