Or well maybe Alaska moved to Dallas? Well, I'm ready for the cold weather to move on back to the north!
We've had unusually cold weather this week here in the North Texas area. Last weekend we had a few days in the 70's and now we've had several days with highs in the 20's.
We got a thorough covering of ICE, not snow on Monday night/Tuesday morn. A friend's child was ice skating on the street.
It hasn't melted yet.
Then overnight our predicted light snow ended up being a few inches of fluffy snow.
Now we don't have snow plows and salt solutions available to us and very few people have chains for their vehicles. Our way of coping with winter weather is to close schools & businesses and basically just wait it out. Our schools have now been closed 4 days this week.
Driving conditions are just too dangerous for the buses to travel on the back roads.
I can't remember ever having schools closed for this long because of bad roads. Our normal snow/ice storm lasts long enough to make a snowman and then it all melts away usually 1 day. A big storm lasts 2 days! And we are on day 4 this time around.
