My grandmother's quilt

Recently I visited one of my mother's sisters. While there, she showed me a beautiful quilt that my grandmother had made many, many years ago. I wanted to share it with you.

Just look at all of the detail!

Her name was on the quilt in 2 places.

And a couple of dates were there too. Here is one of them.

Isn't that amazing!

Learning Time

I got my oldest son to come teach me some basic lawn mower maintenance procedures today. I learned to change the oil, change the air filter, change the fuel filter, put the belts on, and change the spark plugs. I had a few problems and got some help from hubby and youngest son too. When it got to the blades, there is no way I will ever be able to do that part by myself. I also learned that it can be really expensive to send hubby to get lawn mower parts. He came home with a couple of toys that we had talked about buying, but hadn't planned on getting today. They are here now, so I may as well enjoy them. I did not study and I really should have. So tomorrow it's serious business with the books!!!

Pumpkin Fest at Dallas Arboretum

We went to the Pumpkin Festival at the Dallas Arboretum yesterday. It was lots of fun!
I took tons of pictures. I decided to break up my pics by category and post a few each day for a while. So here are the pumpkin patch shots.

I do not know who these little girls were, but they were just so cute in the hay maze that I couldn't resist!
And here's my big kid in the hay maze....I think he decided to cheat and jump over the hay about this time.
Here's the pumpkin house.
So many varieties of pumpkins and gourds!

I didn't realize pumpkins would float!!
