Photo Editing

I would like to learn some photo editing skills.  I have GIMP downloaded and installed, but can't seem to figure out what to do with it.  I think I need a photo editing for dummies class or someone to get me started.  Normally, I'm pretty good about reading & following written instructions.  But so far with the GIMP stuff, I think I'm missing something of a foundational or concept level.


So does any one have any suggestions or recommendations?

My pictures are all pretty much straight out of the camera with some very basic cropping done.  I think I need to learn some new techniques for fixing some photo problems.

Baby "C"

So if you haven't read my post from earlier today, then you need to read that one first.  Since I have just a few months to get really good at taking pictures of babies, I found a friend with a 10 1/2 week old Granddaughter who was kind enough to let me PRACTICE taking baby pictures.  Mema, Mommie, Daddy, and Baby "C" were all extremely cooperative and I had great fun trying out some fun shots.

Announcement!!

Okay, Blogger changed on me!  Just when I had something exciting to announce, I'm having to figure out how to post using this new editing thingy.  Maybe I got it going now, so on to the announcement!

A few weeks ago, my oldest son and his wife came for Sunday lunch.  I think I was making a salad and my son says, "Mom, we got you a little something from Wal-Mart" and throws a WalMart bag at me.

Here is what was in it!

I started jumping up and down!  I was so excited!  Everyone got hugs!

Everything started to blur!  No, I didn't pass out, but I couldn't hardly hear the details.  I got a sonogram of our little "peanut".  

It was still early and they weren't quite ready to make the news public, so I was requested to keep it a secret a while longer.  

Oh, MY!  That was TOUGH!

So I went shopping...certainly it would be okay to tell the saleslady that didn't know any of us from Adam.

We don't know if it is a girl or a boy just yet.....so

But just in case it is a little girl.......

And then there must be baby blankets to make.....

I plan to do my very best to make this little one ROTTEN to the core!!

But don't tell the parents!  Shh!

Then later on as I continued my walk through the garden--I found this.

More strung out flowers--but in a group and looking up!

Wide open
Pure white

and then there were bunches of "strung outs"
