Play in the dirt

We FINALLY got our garden planted yesterday. It was so nice to spend a little while outside in the sunshine and planting seeds and young plants. We planted a wide variety of veggies. Sure hope they all produce well. I saved some space for a few plants I have started in the house. They are not quite big enough to transplant yet. Maybe in a couple more weeks. And then I hope to plant a few things later like cantaloup and watermelon and peas. But I'm not quite ready to plant those yet. Maybe in another month or so.

Test is over and Spring Break is Here!

Thanks for your well wishes. It's done. Don't have a grade yet, but I feel pretty good about it. Next week is spring break, and so I have 2 weeks to read a chapter. So I think that means I get about 10 days without school hanging over my head. Of course that means I have more time to devote to work where I am VERY behind.

We also bought our garden seeds and plants over the weekend. Just got to get the ground ready and get stuff planted.

My plum tree is in full bloom, so it's looking like a bountiful summer will be here soon.

Major test tonight & I'm freaking!!

My brain is on overload!!!

I've been cramming and I think I have most of the info, but it is a lot to cram into an old brain.

I must go work for a few hours. Then my hubby is driving me to class so I can cram some more on the way.

I sure hope he asks the questions that I know the answers to.

Skunk Romance!!

I've been doing a bit of research about skunks lately. It seems that skunks mate in late February and early March and then have their babies in May or June. I also learned that if the female doesn't like a particular male, she will spray him to get rid of him. I've also learned that skunks make a variety of noises including a screeching sound and chirping sort of like birds.

"Why the sudden interest in skunks?" you ask!!!

Well, it seems that some skunks have found their way under my house! They sprayed a few times. In the early morning hours when I've been up studying in the quiet of the morning hours, I have heard them. So I did some research and bought a wire trap. Fortunately, my 22 year old son has taken on the skunk challenge. He sets the trap and monitors it. So far we've caught 1 stray kitty twice, our cat once, and 2 male skunks. Those 2 won't be romancing under my house any more.

Happy 49th Birthday to me!

Friday was my 49th birthday. My son, Stephen, brought me these beautiful flowers soon after I arrived at work.

My co-worker, Karen made my birthday dessert. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?!!!! I couldn't resist taking a couple of pictures before it was cut and devoured. It was absolutely delicious.

Here's the collection of cards I received.

Another friend gave me these nice treasures.

My hubby bought me a beautiful bracelet and necklace. I took pictures, but they turned out blurry and I need to get to bed so I didn't re-photo.

Then Saturday, I took the day off work and enjoyed a day of having the house to myself. I cleaned and worked on school, but it was soooooo nice to be able to get some things done that needed doing. AND I loved the opportunity to be alone. My personality type needs alone time and I have very little of that. So it was the very best present of all, to have a day at home with no one else at home. Of course Sam and the kitties were there.

Well, I finally got the chance to post about my birthday. It was a good day. I also received numerous happy birthday greetings via email and phone calls from my sons. One of them wrote me a poem.
