Last Wednesday morning we left our home about 6:45 and headed north. We really didn't have much of a plan. It was a bit overcast and we kept hoping it would clear up. A few years ago we found a beautiful scenic stretch of highway between Talihina, OK and Mena, AR. So we headed to Talihina to drive Hwy 1. These pictures were made along that scenic highway. There are lots of Vistas to pull over and look out. We stopped at a few early on the route.
But the further we drove the worse the clouds got. When we were at the top of the mountains, we were driving 20 mph focused on the yellow stripe because that was all we could see. We laughed that our scenic drive was not that scenic. We ended up in Mena, AR around noon and ate at a local authenic Mexican food restaurant.

Beautiful photos! I'm glad you had a great trip. I love that part of the country. Mena Ar. is right near where we spent Thanksgiving last year in the Kiamichi mountains with my sister in laws family.
